Richards Ponders Peterborough Option

Monet's Garden, the first horse to beat Kauto Star in over 18 months, has the option of the Peterborough Chase as well as the Tingle Creek for his next run.

Nicky Richards' flashy grey was in receipt of a stone in weight from the Gold Cup winner but was still made to work extremely hard for victory.

However, Richards revealed that his stable star was in desperate need of the run on that occasion and Huntingdon next weekend has now emerged as a viable alternative to Sandown's two-mile showpiece.

'Monet's is fine and he'll be entered in the Peterborough,' said Richards. 'We've got the option of the Peterborough or we can go for the Tingle Creek.

'There's no panic and we'll just see how we feel as the next week goes on.

'I suppose it's getting to that time of year where every trainer in the country is looking for a little bit of juice in the ground.

'Hopefully it will start to come and we can start to get some better horses out,' he told At The Races.
