Pat Flynn has been doing well under both codes in recent weeks and the Carrick-On-Suir handler was on the mark again when Happenstance (17/2) landed the seven-furlong nursery.

The Camacho gelding, fifth on his first run in a handicap here a fortnight ago, travelled well in mid-division and came through in the straight to lead inside the final furlong. He kept on well to score by half a length from Doctor Grace who ran around a little under pressure, with Fendi a neck further away in third.

Winning rider Alan Persse said: "Since he came to the all-weather he's been improving.

“He had a nice run in a maiden over five behind a nice maiden winner of Pat's. He ran well the last day but the step up in trip today really helped him.

“He's still a big baby, even when he quickened up he still had a look. There is plenty of improvement in him.

“Pat is having a nice time of it which is good.”
