Lord Erskine bids for a 15th career success in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Amateur Riders Derby at the Curragh today, with his trainer Harry Rogers also hoping to return with the 12-year-old to the Dublin Racing Festival next February.

Successful eight times on the Flat including at Killarney in July, the son of Fast Company has also scored twice over hurdles this year including a €100,000 handicap at the Fairyhouse Easter meeting, and today faces 14 rivals in the 1m4f contest.

Regarding his stable star and winner of February 2024’s €150,000 Timeless Sash Windows Handicap Hurdle, Rogers reported “Lord Erskine runs in the amateur race at the Curragh for Meryem (Walsh). A mile and a half is too short for him but if he’s able to get out of the stalls and get up there he’ll run well.

“We’ll give him a break then and have him back for Leopardstown (the Dublin Racing Festival) hopefully in February. He just wants better ground.

“He’s been a real star for us and it’s great to have him.”
