Ronan Whelan doubles up as Noble Andy lands Jerry Fish Having landed Division l of the Jerry Fish handicap just over half-an-hour earlier, Ronan Whelan doubled up when taking the second division aboard the Mark Fahey trained Noble Andy. Similar to the earlier race, Whelan dropped his mount out, before delivering him with a well timed run from off the pace. Eagles Whistle led at half-way and looked to have stolen the contest when Jamie Powell kicked on entering the home straight. However, Whelan came through on the 6/1 chance to lead over a furlong out, staying on strongly to beat Star Mind by two-and-a-quarter lengths. “He’s a four-year-old and we didn’t think it would take him this long to win but that probably is his level,” said Fahey. “Ronan gave him a great ride and the horses at home are in great form. We’ve brilliant lads at home helping me out every day and they are getting a few results too. We’re delighted. “If he could win another one it would be great.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
