Ross finally gets it right

Having being placed on eight of his twelve starts to date few would begrudge Ross Na Righ his day in the sun as he finally got it right in the Ross Golf Club Maiden Hurdle.

The son of Presenting was certainly fancied to get off the mark today as he was backed from his morning price of 5/2 (11/4 in a place) into 6/5fav at the off.

Bryan Cooper gave the Dessie Hughes trained winner a perfectly timed run coming to challenge the leader, Zagman approaching the last and out battling him up the straight to win by a length and a half at the finish.

Winning trainer Dessie Hughes said afterwards "That was a long time coming. I wasn't sure if he was genuine, but he put his head down today. It was better to win today than a month ago for his novice status."

He will go for a novice hurdle next and he is a chaser in the making." Aliceaneileen who was right up with the leaders ran out at the fourth last but continued on with the field. However her jockey David Casey pulled her up coming up the straight and reported that his mount was hanging badly during the race.
