Ascot Racecourse has announced that NBCUniversal will televise the Royal Ascot meeting live in the United States as part of a multi-year agreement, from 2017.

NBC's Sports Network will present live coverage of the mid-June event for five consecutive days (Tuesday-Saturday), for at least 15 hours each year.

All coverage will be streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC Sports Group's live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs.

Royal Ascot is one of the world's most prestigious race meetings, attracting some of the world's finest racehorses to compete for more than 6.5 million pounds in prize money. The event features 30 races, including eight at world championship "Group One" level.

Undrafted, partly-owned by former Patriots and Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker, won the Group One Diamond Jubilee Stakes in 2015.

The Royal Meeting is also the centre of the British social season and a pivotal week in the calendar of the Royal Family, who arrive every day by the world famous "Royal Procession" - with the first carriage carrying The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Juliet Slot, Commercial Director at Ascot said: "Active management of who we partner with for broadcast is of great importance to us.

"Our aim is to grow the attraction of the Royal Meeting to international broadcasters and audiences. This will help us to continue to invest in our racing trust, including prize money, facilities and quality of experience.

"The NBC agreement will allow us to bring Royal Ascot to a mainstream American audience who will enjoy watching their horses take on the best of the British and a range of top horses from across the globe alongside the unique fashions and pageantry of the event."

Jon Miller, President of Programming for NBC Sports and NBCSN, said: "We are excited to work with Royal Ascot to bring to the U.S. audience live coverage of an event that the millions of Americans who enjoy our Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup telecasts will be sure to enjoy."
