Ruby saddened by Walsh injuries Ruby Walsh has offered sympathy to weighing-room companion Mark Walsh after he suffered a broken arm and a broken ankle at Thurles on Thursday. The jockeys' championship leader, who has struck up a lucrative association with powerful owner JP McManus, came to grief three flights from the finish aboard Winter Breeze in the Killinan Maiden Hurdle. The injuries have ruled him out of the Cheltenham Festival and a large portion of the spring programme. Ruby Walsh told the Irish Examiner: "It's a terrible blow for Mark. "I know these things happen in racing, but it is very tough on him as he's been having a brilliant season and has led the race to be champion jockey all season. "He would have had plenty of nice rides at Cheltenham too, but is out now for six weeks. "Sometimes racing can be very cruel."
