The Willie Mullins-trained Rumoroso justified his short price when running out a wide margin winner of the geldings maiden hurdle at Downpatrick this afternoon.

Paul Townend bounced out in front on the even-money shot and he bowled along in the extended two-mile-two contest.

He had his rivals at work before the second last flight and Townend kept his mount up to his work up the hill to record a 13 length success over Urabamba

Rumoroso was making his third outing since joining the champion trainer from France and had been third on his most recent start at Ballinrobe.

Townend said: "It should (do his confidence the power of good). It was a good find now, and he jumped really well and set a strong pace for the level of race it was I thought.

"Thankfully he stayed going. His jumping was so good it probably put them under pressure behind me.

"He's a fine stamp of a horse and hopefully he can go on from that."
