Trainer Charles Byrnes added to his earlier success on the card as Run For Mahler stayed on best under Alan O'Sullivan to win the concluding Pepsico (Walkers Snacks) Mares INH Flat Race at Down Royal.

Chasing leader Good Girl Kathleen throughout, the 2/1 chance came through to challenge over two-furlongs from the finish.

However, the Maxine O'Sullivan partnered leader found plenty for pressure, only surrendering the advantage with less than 200 yards to race.

Even at that, the 11/8f rallied close home, keeping Run For Mahler honest before the latter eventually prevailed by a neck.

Charles Byrnes said: "She enjoyed the galloping track.

"We thought she was a bit unlucky in Tramore and she was getting the allowances tonight.

"He gave her a good ride and he will get opportunities as he is good value for his 7lb claim.

"She will go hurdling now. She has schooled and she jumps well."
