Russell back to winning ways

Davy Russell partnered his first winner since Weapons Amnesty's Friday's Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham, when winning on Oligarch Society in the Listed Dawn Omega Milk EBF Mares Novice Hurdle at Limerick today.

Michael O'Brien 's mare eventually moved through to lead before two out, eventually stayed on strongly from the last for an easy six lengths win over Earth Mother

Afterwards O'Brien reported "Oligarch Society is a well bred and valuable mare and it was important to get some blacktype for her. She is a half-sister to Shirley Casper (who actually finished seventh in the race)."

He added "she might go chasing next year but may have a preference for going right handed, which is a problem we may have to iron out if she is to go to Cheltenham next year. She will probably go to Fairyhouse next."
