Davy Russell produced a fine last-to-first waiting ride on Just Janice to win the Barna Recycling Rated Novice Hurdle at Galway today, for trainer John Kiely.

Russell, who was completing a double on the day having won on Presenting Percy earlier, dropped the daughter of King’s Theatre out dead-last in the early stages and showed his hand late, moving through into contention before the home straight.

Jumping the last, Just Janice had three lengths to find with leader Mischievous Max but Russell’s mount quickened well under a hands and heels drive to eventually score a two and three parts of a length win.

Afterwards Kiely stated "she has been consistent all the way but I was afraid coming here the ground would be against her. We rode her to get a trip and she did and will run next in the Grade 3 Mares' Novice Hurdle at Down Royal (on Friday)."
