Russell odds-on for Jockeys' Championship

Davy Russell continues to blaze a trail in the Jockeys’ Championship and while bookmakers are still taking bets on him being Champion, the rider is best priced at just 2/5 to gain his first title.

Russell has finished second in each of the last five Jockeys’ Championships and indeed his seasonal tally of 126 winners in the 2007/08 season is a record for most winners by a jockey not to become Champion Jockey.

However Russell has made an excellent start to this season and is currently 23 winners clear of his nearest rivals, Ruby Walsh and Barry Geraghty (65-42). Paddy Power Bookmakers make Russell their 2/5 favourite while Boylesports are taking less chances and made the Corkman a 1/4 chance. Walsh, on the other hand, is best priced at 4/1 (Boylesports) while Geraghty is best priced at 25/1 (Stan James).
