Ryan wins his appeal

The Appeals Body (Division Two), Mr. J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Mrs. T.K. Cooper and Mr. Liam Ward met in the Turf Club, Curragh, Co. Kildare on 20th October 2009 to consider the appeal of Tom Ryan, rider against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Tramore on 8th October 2009, when following the running of the Newtown Handicap Steeplechase, he was suspended for two racedays after being found in breach of Rule 40 for willfully turning his mount around after the tape had been released.

Evidence was heard from JoeBanahan, Turf Club Starter at Tramore, Tom Ryan and Andrew Lynch who rode Dancing Impact in the race.

Having considered the evidence, the Appeals Body allowed the appeal and ordered that the appeal deposit be refunded.

The case was presented by Mr. Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Turf Club. Tom Ryan was represented by Mr. Andrew Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
