SANDOWN IN JEOPARDY Overnight rain is threatening yet another jumps meeting at Sandown. An inspection will be held at 2.00pm to determine prospects for tomorrow`s card at the Esher track, where all four previous National Hunt fixtures this season have been called off. 'We will inspect this afternoon to take stock of the situation,' said clerk of the course Andrew Cooper. 'We had just under 5mm of rain overnight - as per the forecast - and I would say that has left us just about raceable, although desperately soft. 'We are forecast further rain tonight, possibly as much as tonight, and I would doubt our ability to cope with another 5mm of rain on top of where we are now. 'So we are hoping the forecast is wrong this time.' The loss of tomorrow`s Sandown card would be a major blow as it features a host of major Cheltenham Festival trials. Last year`s Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Edredon Bleu is due to tackle the Elmbridge Handicap Chase, with leading Smurfit Champion Hurdle hopes Geos and Hors La Loi III pencilled in for the Agfa Hurdle. Arkle Chase favourite Best Mate has long been aimed at the Weatherbys Scilly Isles Novices` Chase, in which Australian star Logician was due to make his British debut.
