SILVERTOWN READY TO COMPLETE HAT-TRICK

Silvertown can shine in the second division of the Index Handicap at Warwick today. Barney Curley's five-year-old has won both his starts on the allweather this year in the manner of an improving horse and can continue his progress with a victory on turf.

Racing over an extended nine furlongs at Wolverhampton in February Silvertown won easily by five lengths from Gablesea.

Stepped up to today's trip of a mile and a quarter at Lingfield the following month the Danehill gelding treated his rivals with contempt. He led on the bit inside the final furlong and won very cheekily by a head from Sea Danzig.

Jamie Spencer, who partnered Silvertown to those successes, clearly gets on well with the horse and takes the ride again at Warwick.

Earlier on the card My Retreat con confirm the promise he showed on his final start as a two-year-old in the Nattrass Giles Maiden over an extended seven furlongs.

At Brighton on the second of his two runs last year, the son of Hermitage finished strongly to claim second spot, three-quarters of a length behind Wurzel.

My Retreat was trained then by Luca Cumani but has since changed hands for 44,000 gns and is now with Barry Hills.

Veridian can land the Tote Bookmakers Hurdle at Chepstow. Nicky Henderson's gelding scored at Kempton on the first of his four starts this term and, although he has not won since, ran particularly well last time at Ascot.
