John Gosden's Valentino was withdrawn from the Group Three Prix Daphnis at Chantilly today due to unsuitably soft ground.
The race went to Boutron, trained by Pierre Costes and ridden by Alain Junk, who wore down the long-time leader, Crystal d'Ass, in the dying strides to score by half a length in the nine-furlong contest.
In a blanket finish, Special Ring and Indigo Myth, were a further three-quarters of a length and a short head away in third and fourth.
Boutron was a 58-10 shot on the Pari-Mutuel.
