STAR ATTRACTS NATIONAL WAGER Star Traveller was today the subject of a £1,500 each-way cash bet at 33-1 with Coral for the Martell Grand National. The customer placed the bet in a betting shop in Middlesex and stands to win over £60,000 if Henry Daly's charge is successful on April 8th. Coral reacted by cutting Star Traveller to 20-1. "This is the biggest bet we have taken on the race so far," reported Simon Clare, Coral spokesman. "We have also seen good money for Buck Rogers at 25-1 and The Last Fling at 33-1." Star Traveller's stable companion Edmond trounced a good field for the Coral Welsh National on heavy going at Chepstow at the end of December with a powerful front-running display to earn a best-priced 20-1 quote from the Tote for the Grand National. His owner is reportedly less than keen on the Grand National and looking ahead to Aintree Daly said: "We'll see what the handicapper does." Daly also has Step On Eyre in the Aintree marathon but there are no definite plans for the 10-year-old, who is pencilled in for the De Vere Gold Cup at the end of February.
