SUNLINE FOR DUBAI

Star New Zealand mare Sunline will be in action at Nad Al Sheba on Dubai World Cup day next month, it was announced today.

But connections are edging towards a tilt at the Group Two Dubai Duty Free rather than the feature race for their nine-time Group One winner.

Sunline, who won the Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin in December, will warm up for the March 24th contest by tackling the Apollo Stakes at Warwick Farm in Sydney a week on Saturday.

She has run only once so far this year, winning at Te Rapa in Hamilton early this month.

And looking ahead to the World Cup card part-owner Trevor McKee, who been to Dubai to check on facilities, said on the mare`s website: 'At this stage I have a preference for the Group Two event due mainly to the limited preparation Sunline has had.

'We will see how she comes through the Apollo Stakes, and all being OK, Sunline will leave Auckland on March 11 and travel via Singapore to Dubai.

'We have been able to work out her travel plans so we are not sitting in an aeroplane for four hours in Singapore and this was one of the key problems we wanted to sort out before committing totally to the race in Dubai.

'Sunline`s welfare is my main priority, hence the delay and time taken in our decision.'

Sunline has earned an Australasian record Aus7.5 million (Stg£2.7million) in prize money during a career which has seen her win 24 of her 32 races, including the last two runnings of the prestigious W S Cox Plate.
