SUNY BAY SET TO RUN AT WARWICK

Dual Martell Grand National runner-up Suny Bay looks likely to have his second run for trainer Alex Hales in the ToteScoop6 Warwickshire Gold Cup on Saturday.

The 12-year-old made his debut for Hales in the Coral Eurobet Welsh National at Chepstow last month and, despite eventually being pulled up, showed up well for a long way.

Hales said today: 'I`m ninety percent sure he`s going to Warwick.

'Looking back on his Chepstow run I was pleased with it.

'It`s a day-by-day thing with this horse but the great thing about Chepstow was he jumped for fun.

'Mark Bradburne gave him a good ride, he was up there and dominating which perhaps he hasn`t been able to do recently.

'He`s been in good form since he ran at Chepstow and he`s entitled to come on for the run.'

Connections will persevere with the grey, whose greatest success came in the 1997 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup, until he shows signs of being unhappy with the game.

'He enjoyed himself and that`s the main thing for this horse - as soon as he stops enjoying himself we`ll stop with him,' Hales added.

'He`s happy, he`s well, he`s sound and he seems to be enjoying life - and you can`t ask any more than that.

'They`ve dropped him 6lb which is always a help and I`m hopeful of a good run.

'Everything we`ve done with the horse since Chepstow has pleased us but you just never know.'
