Ken Condon is hopeful that In Salutem can acquit himself well in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash at Ascot.

After scoring at Navan in June, the reliable six-year-old was just touched off at the Irish Derby meeting before finishing an honourable fourth in the ultra-competitive Scurry Handicap back at the Curragh.

He will be partnered by Thierry Jarnet on Saturday, and Condon said: "He's a sprinter in form and has been running very consistently at home.

"There's a lack of opportunities in Ireland for him at the moment, so we had a look at this and we thought the small field and stiff track would suit him.

"I was glad to see the rain earlier in the week as he's not a horse that would want fast ground.

"Thierry Jarnet is a jockey we've all been watching for years, he's a very good rider and we're happy to have him."
