Samurai Mike (10/1) scored on debut today, landing Cork’s Unquestionable Standing At Rathbarry Stud Maiden for trainer Fozzy Stack, jockey Seamie Heffernan and Hong Kong-based owner Peter Chu.

Out of a Listed-winner, the gelded son of Starspangledbanner raced with the pace and quickened smartly to score by 4.5 lengths from Cool Azul .

Stack stated “he had been working solidly all spring and is a nice horse. He is owned by Mr Chu, who lives in Hong Kong and I’d imagine this horse will end up going there sooner rather than later.

“He was just a little bit gross last winter so we gelded him and with him eventually going to Hong Kong, that doesn’t really matter. He is a smart horse though and I’d have been disappointed if he had finished third today.”
