Richard Fahey's Sandiva, last seen finishing second to Kiyoshi in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, will reappear in the Prix du Calvados at Deauville on Saturday.

The two-year-old filly won her first two starts, including a Listed race at Naas, in great fashion and was subsequently purchased by Sheikh Joaan Al Thani.

Sent off the 7/4 favourite at Ascot, she had no answer to Charlie Hills' filly, who quickened clear to win impressively despite drifting across the track, but Fahey feels Sandiva was not at her best that day.

"It looks likely that she'll run at this stage," said Fahey.

"She hasn't run since Ascot and I just felt that we'd be best letting her down for a bit.

"The break has done her the world of good, she's really thrived.

"The winner at Ascot is probably a very good horse but I just don't think she was at her best that day for whatever reason. Whether it was the ground being a bit fast or something else, I just thought she'd have travelled better through the race.

"She's been second in an Albany which is not to be sniffed at, but I think she's better than she showed that day."

Possibly joining her on the trip could be the Tom Dascombe-trained Hot Coffee and Charlie Appleby's Feedyah. while American Wesley Ward plans to run Richies Party Girl.
