Saoire Set For Irish Oaks Saoire will bid for a Classic double in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh in July but more immediate plans have yet to be finalised for the filly. Frances Crowley´s charge held off Penkenna Princess by a short head in the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh yesterday. The daughter of Pivotal could run before July 17 with the Vodafone Oaks and the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot at York being considered as possible targets. 'The Irish Oaks is definitely on the agenda whether or not we run her in the meantime we´ll have to sit down and have a look,' said Ms Crowley, who made history when she became the first licensed woman trainer to win an Irish Classic. 'She´s grand this morning and she seems fine after the race. 'I suppose if she was to run in the meantime it would be the Coronation Stakes at York or the Epsom Oaks but we are going to have to think about that.' Ms Crowley is confident that Saoire will stay the extra half a mile in the Irish Oaks. 'We actually thought she maybe needed a mile and two or a mile and a half. We were taking our chance in the Guineas and the plan was to go for the Oaks (Irish) after that,' the Curragh-based trainer added. ? PA Sport
