Saturday York Tips: A 10-1 and 5-1 fancy in the City of York Stakes Former bookmaker Stephen Harris and journalist and broadcaster Johnny Ward look ahead to Saturday’s Group 1 City Of York Stakes and are split in their opinions on the winner but both take on the favourite Notable Speech. Watch the Irish Edge for more York Tips Stephen Harris I thought Lake Forest was half a bet at around 5-1. I watched his Goodwood run back last time in the Sussex Stakes. Obviously Bow Echo is retired now but I thought Lake Forest ran really well. He got a negative ride because they weren't sure he'd stay a mile, and I don't think he did stay a mile in the end, but his run got blocked two out when he was making ground. It was a bit of a messy Goodwood race, typically, but I thought he ran perfectly well there. And the way he won the Lennox, the run before that, was over seven. I don't think cut in the ground is any bother for him - he wouldn't want it really soft. But if they go a decent gallop, Cieran Fallon would be weaving his way through late. I thought around 5-1 each way - there were fewer questions about him than some of the others. Johnny Ward I'm going to put up Satono Reve, partly on the basis of the Ka Ying Rising form from Sha Tin back in April. That was a race notable for Comanche Brave finishing fifth, before he became one of the better sprinters around here, but Satono Reve was best of the rest. He was a big price that day, but he did stay on. He's taken on an absolute superstar. He was 2-1 last time at Newmarket, when he ran a solid race. He did actually look like six furlongs was a bit sharp for him that day - he was prominent, but he just didn't travel as well as Comanche Brave. If you look at his racing style, I think he's worth a chance at around 10-1, because you're getting a much bigger price here in a race where, generally speaking, most of the horses have a bit to prove.
