Scott named Journalist of the Year

Brough Scott was named Journalist of the Year at the 44th annual HWPA Derby Awards Lunch in London this afternoon.

The renowned writer and broadcaster was winning the award for the second time having first collected the Clive Graham Trophy in 1977.

Dan Abraham was another to win an award for the second time when named Photographer of the Year, six years on from his first success.

 

Matt Chapman prevented event co-host Nick Luck from taking a fourth Sir Peter O’Sullevan Trophy in winning the Broadcaster of the Year award for the first time.

 

Chanelle McCoy once again collected the National Hunt Jockey of the Year award on behalf of her husband who was taking the title for a remarkable twelfth time, in addition to receiving the President’s award from Will Hayler in recognition of his career and service to the sport.

Paul Hanagan's trophy for Flat Jockey of the Year was received by his proud parents Geoff and Sheila.

 

Nigel Twiston-Davies and John Gosden were on hand to receive their respective awards as National Hunt Trainer and International Trainer of the Year, whilst Richard Hannon jnr collected the Flat Trainer of the Year award on behalf of his father.

Lord Grimthorpe represented Prince Khalid Abdulla in picking up Owner of the Year for the first time since 1986 and, in the year that he handed over the reins at Goodwood, Rod Fabricius was presented with the George Ennor Trophy.
