The Jim Bolger-trained Sea Of Rain (18/1) was a gutsy and impressive winner of the Group 3 Newtownanner Stud Stakes. The daughter of Naval Crown has been busy this season, with this being her seventh run, but she looks to be thriving on her racing and enjoyed the tough conditions seen at the Curragh as she galloped on strongly for rider Colin Keane to hold off the onrushing Joseph O'Brien-trained Ballyskeagh by three-quarters of a length.

Speaking after the race, the trainer said: “I'm only kicking myself! I intended backing her when I saw the 25/1, but I forgot about it. I'm the worst punter in the world. It's no surprise. I have 12 mares in foal to the sire, so that's what I thought of her all along. All she needed was the mile and a gallop. I've been telling the lads she's my Oaks filly for next year. That's only Colin's second ride for me. I'd say we'll go for the May Hill at Doncaster. I won it years ago with Turret Rocks.”
