The trend of well-backed horses obliging continued at Kilbeggan tonight as Seaboru landed the three-mile handicap hurdle at the midlands track.

Stephen Ryan's charge had been a 6/1 shot this morning but attracted support and the money continued on course from 5/1 into 7/2.

Seaboru had moved up to be prominent with a circuit to run and went on from Naughty Molly after the third last.

He kept on well from the second last, under Shane Shortall, and despite hanging a touch on the run-in proved three-and-a-quarter lengths too strong for 3/1 favourite Jim Bowie

The winner had run with plenty of credit when fourth in testing conditions at Limerick last month.

“The better ground was a big help. The deep ground in Limerick caught him out,” said Ryan.

“He's a gutsy little devil and we'll look for another three-mile handicap for him”

Ryan was also very complimentary about the ground at the track which was officially good, good to firm in places following watering:-

"The ground is like a carpet out there."
