Serious Contender brings up treble for O'Brien & Moore Serious Contender completed a treble on the day for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore when justifying 9/4 favouritism in the 1888 Restaurant Handicap at Leopardstown. The Wootton Bassett colt, a course winner of a mile maiden last October, headed the front-running Glen To Glen inside the final furlong and had half-a-length to spare at the line. Stablemate Light As Air didn’t enjoy much luck in running in the straight but finished to great effect when eventually getting a clear passage, with Glen To Glen a further half-a-length back in third. O’Brien said, “Ryan had a grand position and he’s a lovely big horse. We’ll see where he fits in. “I think the first two can both go a mile and a half. It was a strong run race and they weren’t stopping. “Jack(Cleary)’s horse was only after having two runs and was very green the twice he ran. I didn’t know what he was going to do so I said to Jack to let him get relaxed the first half and see what is going to happen.” O’Brien and Moore were also on the mark earlier with Group 3 winners Henri Matisse and Delacroix.
