Sesmen Set For Newbury Spin

Sesmen will bid to book her place in the Stan James 1000 Guineas when she makes her seasonal reappearance at Newbury next month.

The Marco Botti-trained filly is on target for the Group Three Dubai Duty Free Stakes, registered as the Fred Darling Stakes, at the Berkshire track on April 21.

'She has wintered very well and we are pleased with her preparation,' said Botti.

'She looks in good nick and the plan at present is to go for the Fred Darling at Newbury in late April.

'We will see how she goes there and then we will make a decision on whether she will be able to go for the Guineas or not. So far we very pleased and everything is going the right way.'

After winning her first three races. culminating in the Group Three Prestige Stakes at Goodwood in August, she could only finish sixth in the Group One Fillies' Mile at Ascot in September on her final start.

'She was probably a bit over the top at Ascot. She jumped the gate well and found her way to the front and ran too keen,' Botti went on.

'We thought it was the lack of pace. When she won at Goodwood there was a good pace, she cut in behind and came through a wall of horses to win,' the Newmarket-based handler told At The Races.

Sesmen is 33-1 with the sponsors for the fillies' Classic at Newmarket on May 6.
