Seven Irish horses entered in Melbourne Cup Seven Irish trained horses are among the 135 possibles for this year's renewal of the Emirates Melbourne Cup to be held on November 5th. Dermot Weld, twice successful in Australia's Premier race, has entered Pale Mimosa and Voleuse De Coeurs. Aidan O'Brien has three entries, Ernest Hemingway, Foundry and Leading Light. The other two Irish horses are the Willie Mullins' trained Simenon and Royal Diamond from the yard of Johnny Murtagh. The last two winners of the Emirates Melbourne Cup, Green Moon and Dunaden, are also amongst the locally-trained entrants.
