Shalambar wins Leopardstown finale

The concluding Blackrock Maiden at Leopardstown tonight went to the Michael Halford trained Shalambar (5/1 – 7/2), a 43rd winner of the season for jockey Fran Berry.

The son of Dalakhani raced prominently throughout and got to the front a furlong and a half out, eventually recording a head win over newcomer Flattery

The win was Halford's 17th success of 2009.
