Pat Shanahan, Ronan Whelan & Thistle Bloodstock completed a quick double as Rominintheglomin ran out an easy winner of TP Walsh Memorial 3yo Handicap.

The daughter of Whipper (also the sire of previous race winner Lordhighprotector was sent off at 5/1 for the seven furlong contest. Angel Bright attempted to make all under Pat Smullen but she could offer no more when headed by the winner over a furlong from home.

Rominintheglomin kicked on from there and kept on strongly to record an easy seven and a half-length success from the 4/1 favourite Crystal Wings who stayed on to take second under Charlie Elliott for Paul Flynn.

The double was Pat Shanahan’s first in the training ranks and he said afterwards: "That was super. I thought my best chance of a winner today was King Of The Picts in the next!

"You can ignore her last run over six furlongs as it was too short for her. The ground is everything for her although the handicapper will probably hammer her after that."
