Shareen gets home in Fillies Handicap

Shareen was produced with a perfectly timed run by Fran Berry to claim the spoils in a tight finish to the Fillies Handicap at Leopardstown.

The Aga Khan daughter of Bahri was always just in behind the leaders and hit the front inside the final furlong.

John Oxx 's charge kept on well in the closing stages to score by half-a-length from Hedaaya

"That was grand. She has won two now and likes the fast ground and 1m2f," said Oxx.

"She'll go for something similar and we'll give her another chance. Once she goes too high in the handicap she'll go home."

Oxx felt the ground was to blame for the below par effort of Rayeni in the Glencairn Stakes:-

"The ground was too fast. It was perfectly safe and he's a sound horse so we had to try it once. He'll run on yielding again not good."

Oxx also had news of plans for Royal Ascot with Troas his sole runner in the Queen's Vase:-

"He wants a mile-and-a-half plus but two miles in June for a three-year-old is an unknown quantity.

"If things fall into place he could run a good race as he loves the ground."
