Sharpen rounded off a memorable afternoon for Donnacha O'Brien, as she completed a 235/1 treble for the Bawnmore handler in the concluding Glenroyal Hotel & Shoda Cafe Irish EBF Fillies Maiden.

Seventh on debut at Naas in March, the E200,000 Goffs Orby Sale purchase was sent off a 14/1 chance today (touched 33s before defections).

Soon settled in a clear second by Gavin Ryan, the Fastnet Rock bay was pushed along to lead from the two-furlong pole and while soon tackled by even money favourite Mittens she battled gamely and ultimately beat that rival by a length-and-a-quarter.

Shane Foley was aboard the runner-up for Jessica Harrington, her seventh placed runner of Guineas weekend, while Avant Nous (3/1) was another four-and-three-quarters of a length away in third.

"She's a very nice filly. She ran in terrible ground in Naas first time out and we gave her a bit of time since then and changed a few things with her," O'Brien, who was earlier successful with Balatina and Porta Fortuna reflected.

"She's a lovely filly, she stayed well and Gavin gave her a lovely ride. It's a nice way to finish off the day.

"They've been running well for the last few weeks, we've had plenty of placed horses, and it's nice to get a few winners. It's always important on the big days.

"A lot of the guys were over from America. Steve (Weston) flew in and had three winners today so that's invaluable to us.

"I wasn't even going to run the two-year-old (Balantina), I was going to go to Listowel with her, but Steve said to give her a run because he was over and she won so it's great."

When asked about plans with the winner he added: "I'm not sure, I'll have a look at the programme. It looks like she'll stay a mile-and-a-half and we'll maybe go for a Listed race and see how we go from there."
