She's Smart holds unlucky Miqdaad at Limerick The Ado McGuinness trained She's Smart recorded the second win of her career when keeping on well to hold the somewhat unlucky Miqdaad in the EI Electronics Handicap at Limerick. Jockey Ross Coakley did exceptionally well to get within half-a-length of the winner on the latter gelding, given that his stirrup leather broke over three-furlongs out. Both the first and second sat mid division in the early part of the race, as Theriverrunsdeep and Dark Enigma vied for the lead. The well backed Cu Chulainn came through to take over in front over a furlong out. Sam Coen produced She's Smart to lead over 200 yards out but Coakley tracked him through on Miqdaad. However, without being able to go for everything on the John McConnell trained gelding, Coakley couldn't get to the winner who held on for a narrow success. Sam Coen said: “I was on to Adam (Caffrey) beforehand and he said that he had no luck the last day and if she brought that run she’d be bang there today. Thankfully she did. “We were free but we didn’t go mad so we were able to pick up. “Seamie made the running and he just came off the rail a small bit, his horse was hanging, and we got a lovely run through. She galloped away out through the line. “We were a small bit worried about the ground but she seemed to handle everything fine. She did it well today.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
