Shimmering Sun lands the Legacy for Eustace & Coen In the colours of the Oaks winner and Sunday’s Arc contender Thundering On, Shimmering Sun (3/1) landed Dundalk’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Legacy Stakes over five furlongs. Shapoor Mistry’s daughter of Havana Grey turned for home just behind the leaders in the Listed contest and Ben Coen got a clear run at things down the centre of the straight to lead a furlong out. Controlla finished off well down the stands’ side but was a length and a quarter adrift at the line. The Harry Eustace-trained winner had finished second in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes over 6f at Kempton on her previous start. "From looking at her races, she was strong at the finish,” said Coen. "Very straightforward filly. I spoke to Harry on the way up and he was very complimentary of her. "The plan was to get a clean break and see where I landed. I got a lovely position and travelled into the race and picked up. Probably got there a shade soon, but I was well on top at the line. She had a little look in the closing stages, but she was well in control at the time. "I would say anywhere between five to six (furlongs), so it leaves her with options. They will have plenty of fun with her. "The Kempton run (second) was a good race and I think the winner was then fourth in a Group 1, so the form is there and hopefully she can keep progressing. "First ride for him, so it was nice to get." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
