Wild Shot ran out a convincing winner of the apprentice handicap at Dundalk to give Oisin Orr a double on the card.

The Damian English-trained gelding was produced to lead over a furlong from home in the mile contest.

The 7/1 shot kept on gamely in the closing stages to record a length win over 20/1 shot Iconic Figure

“He's been a frustrating little horse and he just needs everything to fall right,” said English.

“Today he was in great conditions and Oisin gave him an absolute peach.

“Gaelic Bloodstock picked him out for me and that's the third one they put me into that has won. They definitely know the time of day. They bought me few more in July so hopefully there are a couple more gems in among them.

“I'll have a chat with Cathal but I'd be inclined to come back here for the winter and give him a break.

“He goes so well here. On his last run he was third, only beaten a length, and things just haven't been right since.

“It's my first winner from the new yard as well so it's great to get up and running. It's great to get up and running for Cathal as well as he's a great supporter.

“Any horses that handle this we're putting away for the winter, that's the aim. Moving yards in the middle of the Flat season is never ideal so we are only getting up and running now.”
