Showbusiness gained an overdue win when claiming the second division of the two-mile maiden hurdle at Punchestown.

Gordon Elliott 's charge had been placed seven times over hurdles before today and made most of the running to make the breakthrough.

The 11/4 shot picked up well when asked by Jack Kennedy for an effort at the last flight and went on to post a length-and-a-quarter success over the running on Ballybough Native

Kennedy said afterwards:- “He's been knocking on the door a long time. He got his own way in front today and it seemed to suit him.

“That's his ground and I'm delighted to get the win on him. It'll probably do his confidence the world of good as well.”
