Sidney Reilly showed good improvement on his second start to post a decisive victory in the Catherine Allison & Co. Solicitors Maiden over a mile in Dundalk.

The son of Cotai Glory was gambled on for his debut in Cork and there was definite promise in his fourth place.

He pulled clear in this contest with Bejinho, but clearly outgunned that rival by five lengths in the final furlong to justify 5/4 favouritism. Bejinho had to settle for second at 2/1, but was six-and-a-half-lengths clear of De Boode (3/1).

Andy Oliver said: "A big horse. We actually thought a bit of him - maybe we were thinking about higher entries but, once you have missed those targets, it was unnecessary to keep him a colt so we just gelded him.

"He actually got struck into after that race (in Cork) and that's what the delay was.

"A lovely big horse and we did expect something of him and he duly delivered.

"Green enough too, so plenty to learn but a nice performance."
