Siege for the Irish National

Thyestes Chase winner Siegemaster has the Irish Grand National as his major aim for the rest of the season.

Trainer Dessie Hughes will look for a suitable opportunity to run the 10-year-old before then with the Fairyhouse race not until April 25 this year.

While Fairyhouse is the aim this term, Hughes is excited by the possibility of him running at Aintree next April.

"He's come out of it good. He deserved to win one as he's been running well in all those handicaps," said Hughes.

"He was running a cracker in the Irish National before falling at the final fence last year and he ran well in the Troytown. He's been carrying top-weight in all of those.

"I'm hoping to find something for him before the Irish National. We'd like to go back to the Irish National as it seemed to suit him last year so that's his main aim.

"With it being a bit later this year, we'll try to find a conditions race somewhere for him.

"Aintree next year will definitely be on his agenda. He looks a real Aintree horse."
