Sierra De Gredos lands third career win for Andy Oliver The Andy Oliver trained Sierra De Gredos stayed on best under Gary Carroll to record the third success of his career in the Bar One Better On Football Handicap at Dundalk. A dual scorer on grass, the four-year-old had hinted that he had the ability to win on an artificial surface when runner-up here in July. Pushed along to hold a prominent position from stalls, Gary Carroll soon had the son of Almanzor tracking the pace set by Punk Poet. Moving third early in the straight, Sierra De Gredos came through to head Punk Poet over a furlong out. Yes Oui Si stayed on to take second but Oliver's charge landed the spoils by one-and-a-quarter lengths. “He did it well, Gary gave him a lovely ride,” said Oliver. “Everything went to plan, he likes a sound surface. In Gowran the ground was a bit slow for him. “He has his own way of doing things, this horse. You can design all the plans you like and then he makes his own mind up. “Gary now knows him and he gave him a lovely ride. “He likes top of the ground so he’ll reappear wherever that is and we’ll stick to whatever grade we’re in.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
