American-bred Sierra Nevada gained a second career win today, landing Naas' three-runner Wesco Electrical 50th Anniversary Race for trainer Jessica Harrington, jockey Shane Foley and owners Flaxman Stables. Janoobi and Goodie Two Shoes were non-runners due to drying ground from the race, with Sierra Nevada moving past leader Dancila two furlongs out and beating that rival by two and three parts of a lengths. Vega Magnifico the 5/6f favourite, was last throughout and finished three parts of a length further behind.

Harrington later said “she did it nicely and I was happy with her all the way around. She’s a work in progress still, a great big filly and we haven’t seen the best of her yet. We might step her up to 1m4f as she has that great, big, long stride and she used it today.

“She has a lovely pedigree and we’ll see where we go next. We got away with that ground today - she wouldn’t want real extremes.”

Sierra Nevada, a half-sister to top level winners Pathfork and War Of Will, won a Gowran maiden in June where she defeated an Irish-born filly with the same name.
