The James Dullea trained Silent Sun (7/2) gained a maiden win at the ninth attempt when landing the Follow Limerick On Facebook Handicap Hurdle at Limerick today.

Ridden by in form jockey Jody McGarvey, the son of Lucarno was produced late to score a hard fought three parts of a length win over 3/1 favourite Whenthewindblows

Afterwards Dullea stated “that’s brilliant; he works well but we’ve been unlucky with him since we got him and was hurt and off for the guts of a season and had other niggly problems.

“I was very disappointed with him at Tramore two runs ago - I was disgusted with him actually, but his run the last day was very good. I didn’t have to tell Jody to ride him with plenty confidence, he told me beforehand ‘if he runs as well as he did at Cork, he wins it’s as simple as that’; I’m never that confident but he gave him a brilliant ride.

“Apart from Jody having confidence, the horse had confidence after the last day and he’ll go for something similar in a few weeks time. He’s a chaser down the road and is brilliant to jump.”
