Simenon's owner plays down his chances Simenon's connections are not expecting the globetrotter to reverse placings with Cavalryman when the pair meet again in the Dubai Gold Cup on March 29. Owner Nick Peacock has experienced some great highs with the stayer, who finished second in the Ascot Gold Cup, fourth in the Melbourne version and went on to compete in Japan and Hong Kong. As another year of travelling starts, trainer Willie Mullins has already sent Simenon to the Gulf and he closed from the rear for fifth behind Godolphin's Cavalryman in a Group Three on March 1. "He's in good form and is going to run in the Dubai Gold Cup," said Peacock, who runs Simenon under the banner of Wicklow Bloodstock Limited. "Cavalryman beat us last time, and won the race last year, so I don't think we'll beat him this time, but as long as he runs well then we can look to going back to Royal Ascot."
