Sir Jeremy Strikes in the Finale for Meade The Noel Meade-trained Sir Jeremy (11/1) was the winner of the McDonagh Capital Investments Handicap for jockey Paddy Harnett. He travelled just off the front rank throughout and it looked like a couple of horses were there to win it in the straight. Maurice Aherne's runner went for home and Rory Cleary picked him up near the line on Thatwilldoso, before Paddy Harnett came from the clouds on Sir Jeremy to land victory in the last by a neck. Speaking after the race, trainer Noel Meade said: "I told Paddy to take his time, but he surely did! I thought he blew it to be honest but his 5lb claim was a big help and the horse stayed really well. He could go further as well and the first-time blinkers helped him. "He would probably hurdle at some stage although when I schooled him, I wasn't delighted with the way he jumped." (Quotes from Tom Weekes)
