Slade powers to Haydock success Slade Power could return to Haydock for the Betfred Sprint Cup after putting up a highly-promising performance to win the Blue Square Listed Sandy Lane Stakes yesterday. The lightly-raced three-year-old was giving trainer Edward Lynam compensation for Sole Power having to settle for second in the Temple Stakes at the Merseyside track a week earlier. Slade Power (5-1) lunged late in the hands of Wayne Lordan to deny the front-running Es Que Love by a neck and make it three wins from five starts. "He's a horse to keep an eye on. He's a big raw horse and could be one for next year," said Lynam. "I might bring him back here for the Sprint Cup in September, but I want to look after him this year. "He's only been beaten by two horses of Aidan's (O'Brien), Ishvana and Reply, and they were placed in the 1000 and 2000 Guineas at the Curragh last week. "He looks like a seven-furlong horse but the jockeys say six is his trip and he travels so well."
