Slight setback for Shinrock

Shinrock Paddy is set to head straight to the Cheltenham Festival after suffering a minor setback over Christmas.

Paul Nolan's six-year-old has won five of his six career starts including both outings over hurdles this term, most recently turning in a hugely impressive performance in the Grade 1 Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle at Navan.

"He had a slight setback over Christmas and we didn't want to force him, so it is now more than likely he won't run again before Cheltenham," said Nolan.

"We were thinking of running him at Leopardstown next week but it was going to be a rush and he is a horse who needs plenty of work. The setback was nothing serious and quite insignificant, but I'd rather go to Cheltenham with a fresh horse than run him too close to the Festival."

"He'll probably have a gallop on grass at home and go straight there. It's likely he'll run in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle over three miles."
