Slip to fill pacemaker role again Godolphin are to use Give The Slip as the pacemaker for Fantastic Light in Saturday`s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot.The names of both horses appeared today among the 12 final declarations for the #750,000 contest which is shaping up to be the race of the season so far.The most notable withdrawal from the race was that of fellow Godolphin runner Mutafaweq, the winner of the Coronation Cup at Epsom last month.In a race that is sure to be run at a good gallop, Aidan O`Brien has also left in Ice Dancer to supply suitable early pace for Galileo.'The important thing for Fantastic Light is we need good pace in the race,' explained his trainer, Saeed bin Suroor.'Fantastic Light should have a good pacemaker in this big race and Give The Slip is the ideal horse. He does such a good job.'It has worked twice, in Ireland (Tattersalls Gold Cup) and last time (Prince Of Wales`s Stakes) and Give The Slip is the perfect horse.'I`m sure we`ll find a nice race for Give The Slip in his own right.'Bin Suroor is hopeful that his charge can see off his rivals.'I think Fantastic Light is the horse to beat,' he said.'He`s in top form, as he showed at Royal Ascot recently, and he has a wealth of experience in running big races.'I respect Galileo, who looks like he`s a very special horse, but he`ll have to beat Fantastic Light on Saturday to prove that he`s a real champion.'Galileo`s big-race jockey depends upon the result of an appeal hearing at the Turf Club.Michael Kinane, who has been in the saddle for both of Galileo`s Derby wins, will take the mount provided he succeeds in overturning a two-day ban collected for careless riding last week which would rule him out of action at Ascot on Friday and Saturday.If he fails, Johnny Murtagh is believed to be on stand-by to switch from the Curragh and take the mount.Runners: Chimes At Midnight, Fantastic Light, Give The Slip, Golden Snake, Hightori, Millenary, Mutamam, Anabaa Blue, Galileo, Ice Dancer, Morshdi, Storming Home.
