You Make Me Smile recorded her second victory of the year at Sligo when running out an emphatic winner of the mares handicap hurdle this afternoon.

The Pat Fahy-trained seven-year-old had scored on the Flat here back in May and went to post a 6/1 shot today after two recent placed efforts.

Donagh Meyler produced the daughter of Elusive Pimpernel to lead going to the final flight and she stayed on strongly to post a six-and-a-half length victory over 5/2 favourite Jaadil

The winning rider said afterwards:-

"It wasn't the plan to be that far back, I wanted to be handier but got a little bit squeezed up jumping off.

“She missed one hurdle early on but she got into a lovely rhythm after going a circuit, and was tough as old boots the whole way to the line. She's been running well in defeat lately and it's good to get her head back in front.

"I think one of my earliest winners was for Pat, so it's nice to be back on the scoresheet for him.

"She has an entry on Monday (on the Flat at Galway), so I presume if she's fit and well, she'll go there."
