Sole Power in top form ahead of Al Quoz Sole Power reacquaints himself with the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan on Saturday. Eddie Lynam's charge has run in the race for the last five years, striking gold for the first time in 2015. The nine-year-old made a pleasing reappearance when a close third in the Meydan Sprint at the start of the month and Lynam is anticipating another bold show from his stable stalwart. He said: "It 's his sixth year here and he loves being out here. I am looking forward to the race and the quicker they go, the better it will be for him. "They can't go too quick in the race as the faster they go the more it will suit us - it will drag him into the race. "His run in the trial was as good as he has ever ran here in his prep, and his win on the big night last year was a career-best. "He keeps himself fit with the way he trains and he is a similar weight to when he won last year - although that is 40kg heavier than when he won the Nunthorpe in 2010 - which shows the improvement he has made. "He seems at his happiest here. I have been training 30 years and have never had a horse as happy as him. "If he was an ice-cream, he would lick himself to death!" Jungle Cat was just ahead of Sole Power in the trial three weeks ago. Trainer Charlie Appleby said: " I am pleased with Jungle Cat as he ran well in the Meydan Sprint which is usually a good trial for the Al Quoz. "He just got beaten a nose in that, but more importantly it was good to see him run like that as it was his first time dropped back to five furlongs and there is a big difference between five-furlong and six-furlong pace. "He hit the gates well and travelled well through the race. He has come out of the race well and is in good order. "I'm pleased with the draw in (stall) two as ideally you want to be near the pace and with the favourite (Ertijaal) in six, who is renowned for jumping out and going forward, we can hopefully latch on to him."
